Since 2010 Silvana has been focused on mainstreaming the cyber security conversation and skilling up Australian businesses and students in protecting themselves against the threats that cyber brings. She established an online data backup company with her partner in 2010 to protect small and medium enterprises against data breach disaster and then partnered with staysmartonline in 2012 delivering the message of ‘stay smart online’ to enterprises such as Water Corporation and both private and public schools within Perth. At the same time Silvana was pivotal in delivering key programs of work in the utilities sector including at Western Power and Water Corporation where they saw her ability to deliver projects and build strong stakeholder relationships to engage them on a journey of digital transformation.
Launching StayCyberSafe in 2019 has been a dream come true after her contribution to digital transformation and cyber security awareness at Water Corporation was rewarded with her receiving the Digital Transformation Award (inaugural) in late 2018. Early in 2020, Silvana was invited as one of only a handful of Cyber Security Industry members to participate in the Dept of Home Affairs two day national collaboration exercise to contribute to the national Cyber Security Strategy. It was an honour but it also shows that her work in developing, implementing and delivering successful Cyber Security Awareness programs is noted and valued at many levels of government. Many of the suggestions and input have made the objectives of the report around the critical value to run an effective ongoing program for security awareness and to align cyber security and cyber safety for staff.
Silvana is an active member of the Australian Women Security Network (AWSN), Australian
Information Security Association (AISA) and in 2019 seeing the progress KnowBe4 was making in the cyber security training market after being named a Gartner Leader, she became an advocate of the tool, leading to a partnership between her newly founded StayCyberSafe and KnowBe4 with a commitment to delivering an effective Cyber Security Training Program to Australian enterprises.
Silvana has a commitment to contemporary rites of passage for children and young adults. In 2016 established Kinship Camps which leverages experts in the field to expertly transition people through ‘critical’ stages of life. She works together with a strong network and Rites of Passage (ROP) trained teams to effectively deliver programs throughout each year.
