Scott and Marina wanted to give the WA market an opportunity to enjoy stress free, cost effective and simplicity luxury camping and glamping experiences. This gave birth to Tears of Joy Campers. They received their first camper in March 2016, followed by another two later in 2016, with the fourth added in March 2017.
“The Tears of Joy name comes from the 1950s style of teardrop campers design, thus the name; Tears of Joy Campers. Back then nobody had four-wheel drives, but the simple and classic design of the camper trailer is that it could be towed by any vehicle.”
“This is an Australian design manufactured luxury camper. It has a unique slide out design, which allows you to be sufficient at any camp site. It also allows you to have all the luxuries and more, compacted into this retro camper design. This is thanks to the Brisbane based designer and manufacturer company Gidget Retro Teardrop Campers,” said Marina.
The benefits they have received within the incubator are, working with like-minded people and the security of knowing other people in the same position. They also love the facilities and the exposure that their business gets.
Their biggest challenge has been promoting their business to a wider audience.
This is something they continue to work on but believe that they have a much better understanding of who their audience is.
“The best part of owning our own business is having control of our destiny and seeing an upside in generating revenue, knowing that we have a product that the public want.”
Their advice to anyone considering business incubation is, “it is a great network environment, as you can meet other small businesses starting off and find out what businesses around are around to help your own business expand”.
